Welcome to Border Llamas
Where we pride ourselves on the wellbeing and quality of our llamas and the excellence of service we provide to our clients.
Border Llamas are legally registered with the Chamber of Agriculture in France to Breed, Train and Sell Llamas. Situated amidst the beautiful rolling hills of the Bourbonnais region of the Allier, Auvergne, France, Border Llamas is a 12 Acre Llama Breeding Farm offering quality llamas for sale in France.
We will also
shortly be offering Llama
Trekking trips and residential hands on Llama Training
Courses. Sue & Mike Longhurst, the owners of Border Llamas have been successfully breeding and training llamas for over 10 years (the last 5 years being in France) and during this time we have satisfied a wide range of client requirements, which range from providing llamas for field pets, companion animals, start up breeding herds right through to training and delivering complete trekking herds for new trekking centres all over France and the UK.
Llamas are a popular animal in
France with the numbers of owners and breeders rising steadily in all
Departments. As people with land, be it overgrown, rough, rocky or wooded,
start to realise the environmental benefits of keeping llamas, more and more can
be seen as you meander your way round the rural roads. Llama Trekking in
France is
also becoming a popular activity where
the abundance of national parks, forests and walkways provide idyllic settings
for such a unique and thoroughly enjoyable activity. Being a small family run llama breeding business, we are able to devote our time on rearing and training quality llamas and give each llama the individual attention it warrants to ensure that we can bring out their best qualities. We also personally train llamas for llama trekking centres and will shortly be offering 5 day residential in depth hands on llama training courses for prospective and current llama owners who wish to broaden their knowledge and llama handling skills. During these courses, we will use both trained and untrained llamas as we feel that this is the only way people can fully develop their handling skills and knowledge of these gentle, fascinating and extremely versatile animals. Whether you wish to start breeding llamas, start up a llama trekking centre, have llamas as field companions for other animals or to simply own llamas to help graze and manage your land, we can advise and assist you. If you are interested in becoming a Llama
breeder or Llama trekking herd owner, we can provide advice on the best approach
depending upon your individual circumstances. We can also provide starter
breeding or trekking herds at highly competitive prices. For clients purchasing
breeding or trekking herds, we provide a comprehensive 5 day residential
hands-on llama management course to ensure that you 100% confident that you will
be able to care for and manage your new herd of llamas. As part of our commitment to providing a quality service and ensuring the future wellbeing of our llamas, we provide all customers purchasing individual or pairs of llamas with the option of attending a free, hands on 2 day residential llama management course and lifelong (i.e. as long as you own the llama(s)) 24x7 telephone or e-mail support and advice. We can also provide comprehensive advice on the suitability of your smallholding/farm as a potential llama breeding farm or trekking centre. We also offer a llama livery service. If you
are bringing your own llamas over to France, relocating or returning to the UK
and need time to prepare your own fields and facilities, or have not yet found
the right property, your llamas can be liveried in our beautiful stables and
with access to their own fields. If you would like to know more about Llamas, their care and upkeep, please do not hesitate to contact us. We do not believe in applying any pressure to purchase on callers and we are quite happy for farm visits so you can get to see the llamas close up (we do not charge for farm visits). Our aim is to provide you with as much advice and assistance as possible in order that you can make an informed decision as to whether keeping Llamas is the right move for you and more importantly that you will be able to provide the right conditions for the Llamas to continue to lead a healthy lifestyle should you decide to become owners at some point in the future. We can personally deliver llamas to any part of France, or we can arrange for delivery to any location within the European Union using fully qualified and licensed transporters who are conversant with and conform to the legal requirements for the transportation of llamas. All llamas will be fully vaccinated and personally checked and inspected by a fully qualified and legally registered French vet prior to any international transportation. If you purchase llamas and are not quite ready to receive them yet, we can keep your llamas safe here at the farm until you are ready to move the llamas onto your new premises . All our Llamas are individually registered and micro-chipped and come with a a full record of all vaccinations and medications given. We have signed and fully comply with the Code of Conduct for the sale of Llamas as set by the British Llama Society (BLS). We are perfectly happy for an veterinary inspection of our llamas should you decide to purchase.
With all our Llamas, we provide
free hands on training courses (if required) and totally free 24 x 7 support and after care service for all our customers
regardless of location.
For EU customers we provide a complete service and take care of all the paperwork and obtain the necessary Export (French) licenses, carry out all the required veterinary checks including blood tests (TB & Brucellosis and BlueTounge) and liaise directly with the French State Veterinary Services and your chosen transporter (we can recommend suitable licensed transporters). Thank you for visiting our web site, we hope you enjoy and benefit from the information and pictures provided for your pleasure.
Please
Note: Llamas are not difficult to care for or expensive to keep. However, we will not sell a Llama to anyone unless we are absolutely certain that the purchaser fully understands what is involved in keeping a Llama healthy and that they have adequate facilities to maintain their quality of life. Finally: If you ever see a llama which looks like it is not being treated and cared for correctly and has no or insufficient food, water or shelter, please give us a call and we will do our best to advise on the course of actions you should take. We are happy to assist in the legal rescue, transportation and re-homing of any llamas in France found to be in a distressed state regardless of the distance of travel involved.
