Alicia arrives at long last
At long last, Latitia gave birth to a female cria at 1400 on Thursday 8th July 2010. We have named her "Alicia" and she is the largest newborn cria we have ever set our eyes on. Her size can be seen in this photo where she is 1 hour old and standing next to Tallulah who is already over 5 weeks old and Tallulah was also a big cria.

Update on Tanis Tallulah
Both Tanis and Tallulah are growing rapidly and we are pleased to say that they are both perfect little classic llamas. Tanis is very large for her age and a quite independent young lady, but Tallulah is catching up quickly and they are now best buddies and love to run around playing with each other.

Tuesday 1st June 2010 - Tallulah arrives
Unfortunately shopping and meeting with accountants are a necessity and so after deciding that today was not the day for babies, we decided to go and do the necessary. Obviously Chloe decided that as this was the one day in 2 weeks that we have left the farm together, this would be the day she would have her baby. On our return she had gone into labor and 20 minutes later at precisely 1120 a beautiful and very big multi colored female cria hit the deck. As heavy rain was forecast we decided to pick baby up and take her into the stables so that we could check her and mum over. After a vitamin B and selenium injection, the cria got straight up onto those impossibly long legs and suckled straight away. When the rain took a break after a couple of hours, we let them out so that the other females could meet their new member, then we brought them in for the night as again heavy rain started to fall.
We decided to name the new arrival Tallulah ( meaning "lady, princess" in Gaelic and "Leaping Water" in American Indian). This is our first cria sired by Casper and she has inherited his markings and looks (in a ladylike way).
These photos were taken 3 hours after her birth.

Sunday 23rd May 2010 - Tanis arrives - at night!!!
After watching and waiting all day, Marine decided to try and catch us out by giving birth to a beautiful female cria at 2100 on the night of Sunday 23rd May 2010. We have decided to call her Tanis and we are amazed at just how big and strong she is. We decided that due to the time of night and with darkness approaching swiftly, we would bring mum and baby into the birthing stables overnight so we could give mum and baby a good check over and make sure that Tanis was suckling. This morning both mum and baby were keen to get outside into the bright sunshine, we let them out to join the other pregnant females. Tanis was soon running around followed by all the other llamas and it was lovely to watch as her Sire "Yoda" came up and greeted him.

The following picture was taken on 1st June 2010 when Tanis was just 9 days old. She is a lovely young lady.

First livery Llamas arrive
The first 3 llamas arrived here on 29th April and will be staying with us on livery for the next 18 months. The 3 females, Ulla, Shantung and Gaynor are currently stabled and once given the "health all clear", they will then be let outside to enjoy themselves in the fields. Ulla and Shantung will be put to our Stud male Yoda during their stay with us.
